Ooopsie, yes I think you have, I have seen these little guys alive and hopping, think you will find its a marsupial mouse. Bigger than 'house' mouse, lovely big eyes, hop like kangaroo.
Oh my goodness! What have I done!! Another one killed yesterday and it looked sooooo cute. My husband swore black and blue that it was a rat!!! I'm a murderer.

Definitely a mouse or young rat. The tail is the 'give away'. If it were a marsupial (of any kind) the tail will be shorter than the body and will be covered in hair or fur. If it is an introduced mouse or rat, the tail will be noticeably longer than the body (which in this case is considerable) and will appear un-furred. So rest easy
