Sadly this girl is a cross bred of some description. She may have some Orpington in her past but she is a fine example of what the Orpington Club is trying to address at present. That is a bird that doesnt conform to the 5 APS standard colours for the Orpington breed but whom has been described as an Orpington because of its shape/background. First and foremost for a bird to be called an Orpington it needs to have the Orpington shape. It then needs to be of a standard colour covered by the APS either as a recognised colour ( Black, Blue, White, Cuckoo and Buff) or a non recognised Orpington Colour eg one described for another breed in the APS. If it doesnt meet either test its not an Orpington and shouldnt be described as one.
