the rooster here is one of the meanest indians i have ever owned. by mean he guards his hens and woe betides any other rooster or ckl that bugs him. just had to the rescue the white rooster this morning and both birds have been together all their lives with no real fence ristrictions on roaming. have had to rescue my 2 marans ckls from him a few times as they are too stupid to watch their backs and too frail to get away from him when he gets them. lucky my bedroom window faces on their pen and i can hear (even in my sleep) what is going on in the early morninb so get out quick to rescue them. however all these things make me like this rooster more.just have to watch he does not meet a more formable apponent.
do your indian's freerange with the ausie's?????
because an ausi rooster could "stop" this rooster.

what will keep an indian in will not keep an aussie out. i work on territories and low fences and anyone who transgresses territories i have to lock up. this free range pen is larger than a suburban block. so i suppose they are in a pen but it is big enough to call free range. all other breeds of roosters are kept away from my indian hens when i am breeding them as when they are mature they can hounded by more active roosters because they are easy targets. unfortunatly pekin roosters the indian hen will find attractive compared to the tyranical indian, dog wire is enough to keep the indians in and the indian rooster keeps the pekin roosters out.
thats the worst thing about rooster [games in particuler] you can not keep another rooster with them in a small cage, and i find that a problem with oeg because you run out of space, eventualy i just wire a very small cage and they have to live in there by themself for a week or 2 before their sold [or eaten]

you can rear a ckl with an older rooster but in the end you have to remove one. if the yard is big enough then you can keep the 2 together for longer but if something slows the older bird down or one has to be removed for a few hours then it is all over.
